Winter Solstice
On Tuesday, December 21st we will observe the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. It’s our official start to the winter season, and the beginning of the light returning to our skies as the days get longer, and we move towards spring. We also transition from Sagittarius to Capricorn in Astrology.
This is a time when we need to take a deep dive, celebrating the past 365 days and focusing our attention on where we are going for the next year. Yoga can be a great tool to explore this transition by practicing mobility and stability postures to explore our current state and move ourselves forward into the next season.
Sagittarius helps us to celebrate everything we have created in the previous year, and helps us create ideas of what we have planned for the new year. Capricorn brings the focus and attention to our goals with a nice dose of retrospect on all that we have accomplished. Seriously such a charged time of the year – which is why for some, the holiday season can seem a bit overwhelming.
Our Winter Solstice body scrub is perfect for balancing the culmination and initiation with essential oils of Cypress, Frankincense, Rose, Rosemary and Vetiver.
Winter crystals that adorn these scrubs include:
- Carnelian – boosts energy to help with the changing of the seasons
- Hematite – helps with reflection, memory and deep thinking
- Snow Quartz – facilitates mental clarity and alertness
- Lapis Lazuli – represents strength, intuition, truth, and helps with connection to the divine
