The Elements Bracelet Limited Series – For Maui

For quite some time I have been mulling over an Astrology Element line of bracelets and I ordered some beads and they have been just hanging around since February.  A lot of “stuff” has happened since then.  I have attempted a few times to layout and put some effort into this but it just never went anywhere. I wasn’t getting clear creative direction on the stones or the designs.

That all changed in the past week.  I lived and worked in Lahaina during the early 80’s and part of my heart still resides there. The devastating fire there has been very personal for me and I’ve been doing a lot of reflective thinking about my time on Maui, the lessons I learned there and the native people of Hawaii.

When you think about the elements of astrology, the islands of Hawaii embody all four of them in one physical space – water, earth, fire and air all come together.  I’m sure there are other places on earth that possess the same connection, but not that I have experienced or witnessed myself.   I sat down with my beads and charms and here is what I came up with.  I am donating 100% of my net profits back to relief efforts on Maui.  Local charities and businesses that are working really hard to make sure that the people can get their immediate needs met and then eventually homes rebuilt and get back on their feet in Lahaina.

In astrology, the elements represent an energetic quality that is associated with the corresponding zodiac signs.  There are 3 signs connected with each element.  The element sets the overall tone for the signs.  Fire and Air are extraverted in nature, Water and Earth are introverted.

Fire Element Bracelet IAries, Leo, Sagittarius)

Element – Fire: 8mm

Fire Terra Agate
Black Onyx

Fire terra agate is so mesmerizing, many different colors ranging from white to orange and deep red. Good for protection and shielding from negative energy, fire agate is also amazing for energy healing and helping with confidence and grounding.

Black Onyx also posseses the qualities for protection from negative energy. A powerful stone for manifesting abundance and for added strength and stability.

I added a heart charm, Maui always felt like the heart of the islands to me.  It is protected by 3 other islands on the North/South West sides, kind of like our heart is by the sternum and rib cages. Additionally, it is considered the Heart Chakra of the world.

Earth Element Bracelets (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn)

Element – Earth: 6mm

DZI Agate

DZI style agate is subjected to extreme heat and cold which causes variations/cracking in the stone and colors are added to create a design that mimics the traditional beads worn and cherished by Tibetan monks.   Also protective of spiritual energy and space, allowing the wearer to experience positivity and attract wellness and abundance.

Malachite is a stone associated with longevity and endurance, also thought to help attract luck and prosperity.

I chose the tree of life to represent the famous Banyon Tree in hopes that these bracelets will send a message of hope and healing to the tree that has been a source of joy and earth connection for so many for so long.

Air Element Bracelet (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius)

Element – Air: 8mm

Some amethyst and yellow colored quartz walk into a bar…  Amethyst is one of those stones that I feel everyone easily relates to and Citrine really lights it up. Seems like a nice choice for the communicative aspect associated with air signs.  Great at providing balance and connection, it’s also known to enhance spiritual and intuitive powers. Also helps to release anxiety and stress while allowing for clarity of thought.

A flower seemed like a good choice for the air charm since they are used as a source of communication in Hawai’i. A flower lei is used to greet visitors to the island and in celebrations or to honor someone. The Hibiscus is traditionally worn by a woman to indicate her “status”, behind the left ear, and a woman is taken; worn behind the right, and she’s untaken.

Water Element (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces)

Element – Water: 6mm

Aquatine Lemurian Calcite or Blue Onyx
Peach Moonstone

Aquamarine helps with tolerance and letting go of emotional issues, helping with the healing process and working toward closure. Heightens your intuition and aids with meditation.

Aquatine Lemurian Calcite is a fancy name for Blue Onyx and stems from a legend about a mystical continent called “Lemuria” thought to have sunk into the Indian Ocean. (Myth busted but the name persists.) Strong connection to the water element, this stone provides empathetic support with a soothing quality towards your emotions.

Peach Moonstone radiates a calming and loving energy to balance worry and anxiety. Also, great for letting your best qualities shine through.

Honu (Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle) is a symbol of longevity, safety, and mana (spiritual energy) in the Hawaiian culture and their presence brings good luck and peace. To some, Honu represents a form of ancestral spirit offering lifelong protection, wisdom and guidance. Honu are seen in ancient Hawaiian artwork and mythology and represent an eternal link between man, land and sea.

I’ll be adding these to the website shortly and 100 percent of net profits will go to Maui Direct Response. I’m doing a few live fundraiser events as well, starting at the Craft House 805 in Moorpark on 8/25-26/23.

This is a grassroots local organization that gives aid directly to the people of Maui. If you don’t purchase one of my bracelets, I hope you will consider a donation, they have several options to donate.

I also know people personally have lost their homes in Lahaina and have GoFundMe or Venmo accounts set up to take donations directly to help rebuild their lives. There are also some of those links through Maui Direct Reponse’s website.

Mahalo for reading this long post and for any generosity you may extend to the people of Maui.
